Michael grew up and graduated from High School in Connecticut. He attended Word of Life Bible Institute, in Schroon Lake, NY, and graduated from Liberty University, in Lynchburg, VA. After completion at Word of Life, he moved to Florida and went on staff as Dean of Men. In 2006, God called him to serve as a Youth Pastor in Ramseur NC, and later he became Associate Pastor overseeing Young Adult and Outreach ministries. During this time, he had two daughters, Brighten and Karis. In 2014, Michael planted a successful and thriving church, of which he was the lead pastor for four years.

Ashley grew up in West Virginia and moved to NC in 1995. She worked in Real Estate before becoming a stay-at-home mom to Gracie and Addi. She started a mom’s group in her church and served in children’s ministry for over ten years, working as a children's director and in administration for three and a half years.

​

They were married in the Spring of 2020 becoming a blended family and parents to four beautiful daughters.  Later that year, they felt God calling them to start a bible study, which unbeknown to them, was preparing them to plant a church called Broken Community.  God was working in their lives and revealing their need for community and that's exactly what He gave them!  Through BC, God brought healing and restoration and renewed their hearts and minds from a very broken season.  God began to reveal that even though we all come to God broken, that's not where He wants us to stay. 

 

Starting off in a small banquet center, God opened a door for a larger facility in October 2022.  With the new location, God had also called Broken Community to a new identity. In 2 Corinthians 5:17 it says “that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” With this verse, there is hope, there is a second chance, there is the opportunity for Jesus to restore what was broken, to begin again; to RENEW.

Through life's hills and valleys, God has shown His extravagant love, unrelenting grace, and undeserved forgiveness.  Renew Church is a place you can find healing, hope, family, forgiveness, and experience Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. There is always an opportunity to begin again, to renew!
